9 shifting boundaries

Project by Fiona Belousz, Szilvia Bolla

Boundaries play a crucial role in perception: we see both transparent and opaque physical objects indirectly by seeing their surfaces and materials. An object becomes a boundary when there is something to divide from while they cannot exist in isolation from the things they bound. 9 Shifting Boundaries is an exploration of the fluidity of perception through spatio- temporally extended entities to be encountered by the viewer. Material effects and photographic gradients of light and darkness are expanded into physical objects.
